This is a plea from the bottom of my heart. It has nothing to do with this site... It is just my opinion. But really, I totally need to get this out. I need to vent my spleen
If you are going to mention fanfic over at h.net.... Do not ever, ever mention that a story has: a)sex, b) slash or anything appoximating slash or c) Hanson doing something illegal or untoward!
I'm really worried that the thread about the new Valentine's Day site will be deleted. And you want to know why? Because someone went into the thread and made a big deal about Ella's story (which is only right, because it's amazing and deserves a lot of praise). But there is an entry in that thread that will most likely get it it deleted saying something to the effect that in Ella's story, "you got to pay Taylor for sex."
Why would you do that?
Why would you post that on Hanson.net?
I know, I know... Free speech and all that nonsense. But in the end, it is Hanson's site. They own that piece of the internet. It is theirs! They get to say what they do and don't want on their site. And they could make a rule that fanfic is strictly forbidden... Heck they could even start patrolling our signatures. And none of us want that.
Please, please, please... don't post things about fanfic that will be deleted or found to be otherwise. We are already fighting such a losing battle with fanfic. They are finally leaving the links where we pimp this site and others up. Let's not get them going again.... Let's not revive the fanfic witchhunt!
Thanks for listening...

I have to agree. While I'd love for us to be able to shout from the rooftops about stuff like that--it doesn't work that way there.
We worked long and hard on the Various Artist awards only to have EVERY post at h.net deleted because "it linked to sites that linked or had slash" etc. etc.
Sometimes they're watching and sometimes they're not. But if you can pimp something and be discreet about it, there's a much better chance that we can get the word out about these amazing stories--whether it's murder, gay sex, straight sex, or Hanson eating red lollipops--the less controversy, the better!
That said, go read those Valentine stories! There's some great ones!
(feel free to pimp away here at Various Artists--we won't delete them unless they become name calling/drama causing fights and such!)

I'm with Krystal and Stephanie.
You need to watch what you say at H.net. Any comment not about what you got at the mall the other day, should be subtle and wellversed. It's possible to ilude detection by the whiners, but hardly ever does anyone get that lucky.
Protect Hanson Fiction, and NEVER mention any above PG13 content of the stories.

I never understood why people say certain things in a place where the guys could just easily pop in and read it. It makes me wonder all the things they've seen/heard....and I wonder if they get weirded out. haha I know I've read some things that I, if I were them, would never want to see about myself.

I would never, ever, EVER put any fanfic of ANY description anywhere near H.net - even if I was a member. In fact, it makes me a little nervous just knowing someone brought up the V-day collection over there. If I thought for one minute that Taylor was reading any of the stuff I've written about him, I would crawl into a hole and die of embarrassment.
So yeah, don't say ANYTHING that would point them or anyone else that would tell them about it in the direction of unorthodox fiction!!

Hanson.net is the last place you'll find me, but I totally agree. It amazes me that people even advertise their stories on there. There's nothing wrong with it per se, but I never felt too comfortable with it.

1. You're referring to my thread. 2. If Eve had a problem with me saying that, she would have told me herself. We are talking about the promotion for her website here. How did this even get on VA...? 3. Suddenly now I'm being told what to say in my own hnet thread over here on VA? Strange... 4. Sex and fanfic are mentioned all the time. They cannot tell us to stop writing smutty fanfic. Let's be realistic here. 5. I have never, in all my years, seen them deleting tons of amounts of fanfic. Maybe slash, but for the most part they're fine with it. 6. Everything is so fucking uptight these days. Everywhere you go. Hitz r Us is no longer fun, suddenly the fanfic world is about "protecting" it? I'm sorry. I left my "Save Fanfic" tshirts at home apparently. 7. Rhoda- 65 percent of the hits to the fanfic colaborations come from Hanson.net. You'd like to not advertise it there? THAT would kill fanfic. 8. Hanson isn't going to pop in and see it. They never come on and when they do, they have selected vision. 9. Maybe if you posted in more than fanfic posts, you'd understand hardly anything gets deleted on hnet these days. I would finish this off with a 10, but I just think this entire post is a bit dramatic.
*lays before everyone and waits to be crucified* Nail me up, baby.

Surely drama in HansonWorld doesn't surprise you!
Hey, I'm happy as a clam to see that it didn't get deleted!! All I know is that post after post about the awards, etc. got deleted. Maybe it was just a bad time there. Maybe they're over it, which is fantastic!
That place is schizo--we all know that! And of course, sometimes it just depends on who's making the thread.

This is true about making the thread. For some reason, perhaps because the majority of my posts are taboo, they rarely delete my threads. They of course delete the ones I make about Natalie being pregnant, but I usually just make another one and they leave me alone. It's really quite strange.
The last time I had a thread deleted it was because I think we were talking about Hansonized sex toys. I've actually gotten away with threads with subjects like "Fcuk this" without them being deleted. Although they did catch on to that- and now they've censored fcuk and I blame that all on myself.
If the Hearts Will Bind You thread had been deleted, I simply would have made a new one without sexual references in it.

I don't think it's "wrong" to promote hanfic over there. I just think there are things said (like the thing about paying Taylor for sex) that I wouldn't want Hanson themselves to see. And with the way they're randomly popping in now (Zac at least)...it just makes me cringe to think of the things they may see. I wouldn't want to see those things about myself or my brothers, and I wouldn't want them to see them either.

Okay Erin. I'll go ahead and admit that I haven't seen a lick of the actual thread that you made over there - I made an assumption based on third party information, which may or may not have been accurate, which I usually don't do as a rule. So I'm sorry for that. However, that third party was krystal, someone I happen to trust, so when she said the thread was getting out of hand and needed to be reined in, I chose to believe her. You understand where I'm coming from here?
Also, as anyone who knows me can attest, I'm very, very, VERY paranoid when I'm on the internet. So when I find any 'evidence' that I might have a good reason to be so, I go apeshit a little. So I'm sorry about that too. But it happens.
But I want you to understand that I wasn't referring to all fanfic in general being kept far, far away from H.net - just my own. Because I'm paranoid like that, and I wouldn't want them to see it or even know it existed. Even more so because I chose to do a slash this time, and I know they don't approve of that kind of thing. I'm not suggesting that we remove any and all Hanfic from the site - and I do appreciate your promoting it like that, I really do - but it makes me nervous. More so than I ought to be, and I realize that. But that's just the way I am.
Are we all clear now?

I was a regular at h.net for a loooong time, then, when they switched to the new board system or whatever, I didn't go so much....still don't. I'm much more active on a few other boards, that aren't Hanson related.
I still love the guys, but I got tired of the politics of the board, and the censorship. I understand that they have a right to censor what they feel is needed, but I just prefer to bide my time elsewhere these days.
I still love the music, I still write, and I am still a paying member, and I don't plan to stop any of that anytime soon.... I just don't go there anymore, and I don't miss the drama one bit. LOL.
I'll admit though, when I went to a few other boards I now frequent, I was shocked at what was allowed, because I was used to the rules @ h.net. Haha.
To each her own, I suppose.

All I said was "be discreet"! I'm very glad to see that the post is still up over there, and frankly, surprised. So, I guess if I have anything questionable that I need posted over at H.net, I'll get Erin to post it for me. Cuz my crap gets totally ignored by the members, or deleted by the mods. Gotta love Hanson.net
